Gallium Metal
Gallium is a grayish-blue or silvery-white metal with the element symbol Ga and an atomic weight of 69.723. Gallium has a low melting point but a high boiling point. It is an essential basic raw material for manufacturing semiconductor materials. The second generation semiconductor materials gallium arsenide, the third generation semiconductor material gallium nitride, and the fourth generation semiconductor material gallium oxide all require gallium as their important raw material.
Gallium can be used to make magnets, photovoltaics, mo sources, phosphors and other products. These devices are widely used in modern industrial production. Gallium can also be used to make alloys. It can form alloys with elements such as aluminum, tin, zinc and copper, which enjoy excellent mechanical properties and corrosion resistance. These alloys can be used to make components and structural materials for aerospace, automotive manufacturing, electronics and construction. Furthermore, pure gallium and low-melting alloys can be used as heat exchange medium of nuclear reaction, high temperature thermometer filler, and catalyst for diesterification in organic reactions.
